This Privacy Notice explains how Muyang Sun and Joyce Xie, through gopc.global and the How Chinese Business Actually Works project, collect, use, and share information when you visit the site, request the Five Signals guide, subscribe to email, or contact us.
We collect only the information needed to operate the site, deliver requested materials, protect the form, understand page performance, and respond to inquiries.
We do not sell email addresses or form-submission data.

Information we collect
Information you provide
- Your email address when you request the Five Signals guide.
- Your opt-in choice, confirmation status, subscription timestamps, list membership, and unsubscribe preferences.
- Information you choose to include when you email us.
Technical and usage information
When analytics is enabled, we may collect page views, section views, scroll depth, button clicks, referral and campaign parameters, approximate location, browser, device type, and similar usage information. We do not intentionally send names, email addresses, form-field values, or other directly identifying information to analytics tools.
Security information
The subscription form uses Google reCAPTCHA to help distinguish legitimate visitors from automated abuse. reCAPTCHA is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
How we use information
- Deliver the Five Signals guide and related emails you agreed to receive.
- Verify subscriptions through double opt-in and maintain unsubscribe preferences.
- Measure page performance, understand which sections and links are useful, and improve the reader experience.
- Protect the site and forms from abuse, fraud, and automated submissions.
- Respond to questions, privacy requests, media inquiries, and partnership requests.
- Maintain records needed to document consent and comply with applicable obligations.
Services we use
Brevo
Brevo processes email addresses, consent records, double opt-in confirmations, list membership, automated delivery, and unsubscribe preferences for the Five Signals guide and related communications.
Google reCAPTCHA
Google reCAPTCHA helps protect the subscription form from spam and automated abuse.
Google Analytics 4
Google Analytics 4 helps us understand traffic sources, device and browser patterns, page engagement, and conversion events. We configure the site not to send personally identifiable information to Google Analytics.
External destinations
The site links to Amazon and other third-party websites. When you leave gopc.global, the destination’s own privacy notice and terms apply. We may record that a link was clicked, but we do not control or observe what you do on Amazon after leaving this site.
Cookies and analytics choices
Essential technologies support basic site operation and security. Analytics technologies may use cookies or similar identifiers to distinguish sessions and understand site use. Where consent is required, non-essential analytics will not load until you choose to allow them. You can change or withdraw that choice through the Cookie Settings control available on the site. Withdrawing analytics consent does not affect your email subscription.
You can also clear cookies through your browser settings. Email preferences are managed through the unsubscribe link in each email.
Email communications
The Five Signals form uses double opt-in. After submitting the form, you must click the confirmation link before joining the HCBAW Readers list and receiving the guide. Each delivery or follow-up email includes an unsubscribe link. We keep suppression or unsubscribe records so that we can honor your preference.
Retention and international processing
We retain subscription information while you remain subscribed and for as long as reasonably necessary to document consent, honor unsubscribe requests, resolve disputes, maintain security, or meet applicable obligations. Contact inquiries are retained only as long as needed for the inquiry and related business records. Analytics retention follows our configured settings and the relevant provider’s rules.
Our service providers may process information in countries outside your own. Their privacy policies describe their processing and safeguards in more detail.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent. You may unsubscribe from email at any time using the link in an email.
